Daystar Graduate Projects

We have just initiated this program and graduates of Daystar are excited about having your team work with their organizations.  Listed below are just a few of the many mission projects.

1)  Florence Gwoneki is a teacher and administrator in the Ngong Public School District, just outside of Nairobi.  The school is basically run down and needs painting, tree planting, basic carpentry, and some classroom assistance.

2)  A Sudanese alumnus, Joseph Hakim works in the Kakuma refugee camp in northern Kenya.  He is teaching basic skills for life.  This mission trip would be for the individuals who are willing to experience harsh conditions.  The cost would be more and the living conditions more primitive than ministering in the Nairobi area.

3)  Becky Gitonga is another alumni who is working in the slums of Nairobi.  Her project develops revenue generating programs for the slum dwellers.  Currently, she is heading a team making bags and clothing for an overseas market.

4)  Rev. William Eswilu Eyika graduated in 2001 and is working with Vocational Training Programs in Motor Mechanics. Besides auto mechanics, there are programs in carpentry, tailoring and dress making.  This program was started in 1998 by Dagoretti Baptist Church.

5)  Daisy Mureithi is working with a children's rehabilitation project in Nairobi.  The program is the initiative of the Redeemed Gospel Church of Kenya.

6)  Mary Mambo established a HIV/AIDS maternity clinic in the Mukuru slum area of Nairobi.  The Cana Family Life Education Clinic is a non-profit Christian Organization whose main goal is to make the lives of HIV/AIDS infected and affected people be more bearable, enjoyable and healthy.  This is one project we have to visit, if not work.

7)  Mr. Mburia Kirimi, a 1995 graduate, has initiated many community development projects in central Kenya, specifically water projects, wells, and other economic empowerment programs.  He travels to other underdeveloped parts of the country just to initiate projects.

There are many more opportunities to assist Africans, programs that are making a significant difference in developing the Hope for Africa.  We can be a significant partner in helping Daystar graduates and Daystar University.
