The graduation was quite an event, with around under
500 graduates and almost 12,000 people in attendance!

|
The guest of honor at the graduation was Dr. Inonge Mbikusita-Lewanika (see at right shaking the hand of a graduate's daughter). Dr. Lewanika is currently a member of Parliment in the National Assembly of Zambia. She was the first Chairperson of the Zambia All Party Parliamentarians and the first female leader of a major political party in Africa. By the age of 36 she had gained her Ph.D. and has gained proficiency in 10 languages. Her life and work clearly show that age and gender are no barrier to achievement. |

(The Vice Chancellor, Dr. Stephen Talitwala, addressing the graduates.) He challenged the graduates to strive to mobilize the church of Christ in Africa. He stated that the battle that is ahead cannot be fought on a denominational basis, but by the whole church of Christ. He is encouraged by the fact that Daystar University graduates have representatives from all the main denominations. |
