Its five-week, Foundations of Christian Communication Strategy (offered since 1971) has been attended by over 800 African church and mission leaders. Over 10,000 others, in diverse Christian ministries, have participated in intensive studies of Music, Youth Work, Islamics, Counseling and Urban Ministries. The thrust of Daystar’s research program is to understand the various people groups in Africa in order to develop effective means of communicating the gospel to and discipling them. Over 60 church and mission agencies have been served through Daystar’s research projects. Examples of Daystar’s research are studies on the Unreached peoples in Kenya, the Nairobi Church Survey, and the Kenya Youth Survey. These studies are helping mission and church organizations reach and sustain ministries among various people groups. Through its degree programs, its short-term training programs for church and ministry leaders, and its commitment to applied research, Daystar has emerged as an unique institution serving the cause of the Gospel and the body of Christ in Africa. One of our newest programs, Doulos is aimed at equipping leadership through a program of character and spiritual development in an experiential training program which combines wilderness adventure, discipleship and outreach service. |
