Daystar US: Press Release
Vice
Chancellor to Retire |
Stephen Talitwala has announced that he will be retiring from the position he has held for 27 years at Daystar. In the years he has been the leader, Daystar has grown from a handful of students working on reaching Africa through media to a comprehensive 2,000 student university. The Vice-Chancellor came to Daystar from Uganda, where he was a professor of engineering. As the campuses grew, his vision was that Africa would be infused by servant-leaders from Daystar to make a difference for good. Last December, Stephen was involved in a serious car crash that almost took his life. He spent weeks in the hospital and four months recovering at home. Although he is leaving Daystar, he will continue to teach, write, and collaborate on projects to make Africa a continent more reflective of Jesus Christ. A search committee has been established by the University Council (Board of Regents) and will be making recommendations to the council for interviews and an eventual appointment. The entire Daystar family will gather to properly honor him in 2004. If you have a message or card you’d like to have delivered to Prof. Talitwala on the date of his retirement, please send it to the Daystar U.S. office. We will include it in our folder! |
