I took this photo on my phone, just above the Daystar University rugby pitch, during my visit in November.  This sunset over the campus reminds me that God is in control.  He created the sun, and it continues to rise and set every day.  In Psalm 19:1, David states, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

As we look back over the last year, maybe thinking through all that happened, or if you are more intentional, doing an assessment.  We may have been surprised by what happened, or it could have been just about the same as the year before.  What we can be assured of is that God continues to love us and He wants the best for our lives.  In Jeremiah 29, God is speaking to those who were exiled to Babylon; their lives had been uprooted, and they were living far away from their homes.  God reassures them in verse 11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Whatever has happened in this last year, every time we see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, let's remember that God is not surprised by what happens in our lives and He never leaves us or forsakes us.

Below are a few of Sarit's past highlights.  These are lives that have been transformed through the sacrificial giving of so many of you.

My first week at Daystar I wrote a story I had heard about a watchman (guard) that became a student. Well, funny enough, a year later I met that same student, Gilbert. Gilbert can now speak English, no longer lives in complete poverty, and is pursuing his degree in international security thanks to you.

This is Sam. As a child he had to flee from Rwandan rebels after the murder of his family. These rebels wanted nothing other than his family's land. To this day, he cannot return for fear of his life. Now he no longer lives in the slums and has made a name for himself in technology because of your financial support.
