“Thanksgiving - for 1,398 graduates!”

Dr. Alan Cureton, speaking at graduation

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! We have so much to be thankful for this year, including you!

Thank you for all of you who prayed for the recent graduation.  There was a record number of graduates... 1,398 students!

This was the first in-person graduation Daystar has had since the beginning of the pandemic.  It was not the normal graduation which would have tens of thousands of family members cheering on their students - because of the Covid protocols in Kenya, only the students, staff and faculty were in attendance.

We were so very honored that Dr. Alan Cureton, President of University of Northwestern St. Paul, was able to be the guest of honor and share the keynote address with the students.  You can watch Dr. Cureton's address during graduation by clicking on the video below.  Please feel free to watch more of the event - the entire ceremony was around five hours.

Prisca graduated with a degree in Education from Daystar.

Because of you and so many friends in the U.S., some of the graduates were scholarship recipients!   Prisca and Millicent were two of those students (photos on the right).

Prisca came out of the Mukuru slums through a scholarship.  She graduated with a degree in Education (we will tell more of her story in a future email).

Millicent graduated with a degree in International Relations and Security Studies. She shared her desire,  "I hope to become a successful and God-fearing diplomat who will impact people’s lives through my deeds. I hope to show my fellow Maasai girls that education is important to them. I hope to grow wiser in the Lord and guide my fellow youth to Christ."

We are so very thankful to you for investing into the lives of these young ladies and so many others!  Please pray for the next steps in their lives, that the Lord would open the doors of opportunity, so they can go out to work and serve.

Millicent graduated with a degree in International Relations and Security Studies.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Thank you for your support and prayers.  We cannot do this without you!

Blessings,

Alan
