Back to Campus for Daystar Students

"We wait in hope for the Lord;
He is our help and our shield.
In Him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in His holy name."
Psalm 33:20-21, NIV

This year has been very difficult for Daystar and all schools and universities in Kenya.  With so many people losing jobs and families struggling, many can no longer afford to send their students to Daystar.  With lower enrollment Daystar has been struggling financially and Laban, our president, has been working with his team in cost-cutting strategies and creative ways to bring more income.  One of the measures is a 15% tuition reduction for all students, as Daystar considers the needs of its families.  Another measure is a 30% salary reduction for the leadership team and a 20% reduction for the rest of the staff and faculty members.

 The Kenyan government had mandated strict school closures country-wide and it sounds like they are in the process of allowing schools to reopen or partially reopen on October 5th.  Daystar has been making preparations, utilizing Covid-19 protocols, and hopefully will be given the green light to reopen the campuses for blended classes next week.  There are still many uncertainties about the details from the government.  Hopefully, we can give you more details in next week's update.  Please pray for the transition for all those returning to class and wisdom for the leadership as they lead this effort.

 Please consider taking a few moments to pray for Laban and our Daystar colleagues as they are struggling through a very difficult season.  Also, please continue to pray for all of the students and their families, that the Lord will provide for all of their needs and that they will hope in the Lord who remains faithful.

 During our current time of uncertainty we need to remember the sure hope that we have in the Lord.  I hope the video below is an encouragement to you from our Daystar chaplaincy team.

Thank you!

Blessings,

Alan
