“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10 NIV

Hello Daystar friends,

Within the past week, most of us have felt the impact of the coronavirus. As church and public events are canceled or moved online, and stores along with restaurants are restricted to takeout only services, our world and way of life has been changed.

But praise be to God, He never changes!

"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease."
Psalm 91: 1-3 NLT

UPDATE: Daystar U.S.

We have maintained normal office hours while encouraging our staff to work remotely as/if needed. We are assessing the situation and will be deciding whether we should keep the office open, as many functions can be done remotely. During this time, whether or not we are in the office, phone calls will be answered, and voice mail and email messages will be responded to promptly.

We have taken the precaution of postponing several planned trips to and from Kenya. Also, the Daystar U.S. Board meeting schedule in April is being transitioned into an online event.

UPDATE: Daystar University

Currently there are 7 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Kenya. There are now restrictions on who can enter the country: only Kenyan citizens and foreigners with valid resident permits will be allowed to enter. There is also a mandatory quarantine for Kenyans re-entering the country. All schools and universities were also ordered closed.

I spoke to President Laban and he confirmed that Daystar has no in-person classes, but Daystar's main functions are still open and some staff members are on campus. Laban let me know that they all are focused on utilizing their online learning – directing all students to their online site.

There are Daystar students who cannot go home, such as refugees, orphans, and international students. These students will be staying on the Athi River campus, though many are struggling financially. These students, who are from South Sudan, Tanzania, Nigeria, Rwanda, Malawi, Uganda, Congo, Burundi, and Sierra Leone, need extra funds during this difficult time.

President Laban has sent an appeal asking for support of his international students.

Here in the U.S. we have been inconvenienced and some are indeed struggling, though I don’t think we truly realize how many in Africa endure these struggles on a daily basis. This is an opportunity for us to step-up and help our African brothers and sisters in a time of need. Please prayerfully consider supporting our scholarship fund.

Like you, we remain committed to God's work through Daystar University and anticipate His miraculous and ever-faithful provision. Thank you for your unwavering support, and please let us know how we can be of service and pray for you and your loved ones.

In His grace,

Alan

+ You'll capture the value of your stock and stop worrying about market ups and downs.
+ You'll receive an income tax deduction for the full amount of your gift.

ENDOWMENTS
Our scholarship endowments are the financial building blocks to help Daystar look to the future with confidence.  An endowment gift is the single most important way to make the university available to students for years to come.  As the endowments grow, Daystar can expand its ability to challenge and nourish lives.  When you help with a deferred gift, you take a very personal stake in the kind of education that builds Christian character as it creates an environment of academic excellence.

PLANNED GIVING
Through planned gifts you can support Daystar University while improving your financial security. In fact, just one planned gift can return an immediate tax deduction to you, plus lifetime income for you and a loved one, plus long-term financial support to Daystar.
