Daystar Launches New University Anthem
March 12th, 2021

"Sing to the Lord a new song;
    sing to the Lord, all the earth."

Psalm 96:1 (NIV)

Thank you to so many who replied to my last email when I asked you for your advice so we can serve more effectively.  I greatly appreciate you all!

It is hard to believe I haven’t been to Kenya since January 2020!  We have had many emails, phone calls and zoom meetings, but it cannot replace being together in person - I am sure many of you share the same feeling.  How many of us have not seen friends or relatives in person for too long?  It could be that this time of quarantine will make us really appreciate being together in person, when we finally are together.

When I do return to Kenya, I will be seeing many significant changes on campus, including the new fitness center, the first phase of the new outer wall (at Athi River campus), and over 5,000 new trees planted on that campus!  I will also be able to hear (in person) the new Daystar anthem, which was launched this past week.  This was a challenge that President Laban gave to the Communications team:  to create a Daystar anthem.  Many schools in Kenya have an anthem, but how much more important for Daystar, a school that represents the hope that Jesus brings to the world!

The anthem represents the founding verse from which "Daystar" derives its name, 2nd Peter 1:19, where it is written, "And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts." (NASB).  In the King James Version, "morning star" is translated as "Daystar" which refers to our Lord Jesus Christ.

I look forward to sharing more about the Daystar “launch event” soon, but I hope you will enjoy the new anthem in the first video below.  The second video is of President Laban leading in singing “Tis So Sweet To Trust in Jesus”.

Thank you for standing with our Daystar family and for believing in the mission of Daystar!

Blessings,

Alan
