This season, what will we choose?

But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says,
Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.
Isaiah 43:1 NLT (bold added)

Hello Daystar friends,

COVID-19 - that is almost all we hear nowadays. It seems that the world is gripped in fear and uncertainty. In light of this, it occurred to me: what if we didn’t need to fear this virus or any other virus or problem? In fact, I can guarantee you don’t have to fear COVID-19. How can I make such a bold statement? It is because these are not my words but God’s.

During this season, we celebrate the gift of salvation through the work of Jesus. God sent His only Son to this world to live and die so we may know the peace that comes from right-ness between God and us. No matter what happens to us in this life, once we have given our lives to God, we no longer need to fear. We may still choose to fear, or occasionally forget the gift of peace that God has given us, but we do not need to fear. Here it is in words better than mine:

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6-7 (NLT)

Tomorrow is is Good Friday, a very dark day when Jesus willingly took on our sins and punishment, as well as our fear and anxiety. He took them, so we no longer need to carry this horrible weight. He chose to give us peace through His suffering, which, when we realize that He rose on Sunday, should bring us great joy, as well as peace. Jesus conquered death and fear so we can live in Him – in Him who is peace and joy and kindness and goodness and even so much more.

My prayer for you today and throughout this season (both Easter and COVID-19) is that you would live in Christ Jesus, choosing to experience His peace and joy, so that you can be a light to those around you, sharing that there is truly hope to be found in Him!

Blessings,

Alan
