GIVING THANKS FOR:

So many of you who have made such an impact at Daystar University!

SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS

Your support of scholarships makes a huge difference!  More than 200 students have an opportunity because of many of you here in the U.S.  Not only are these students a great investment but right now there is a way to double your giving.

Give today towards the $50,000 scholarship match. This year double the number of students applied for scholarships.  We are prayerfully trying to increase the funds available for these wonderful students.

Thank you for your continued prayer and financial support for our African brothers and sisters.  Your prayers and gifts do make a difference!

STUDENT LOAN PROGRAM

$500,000 was given to start an internal student loan program.  The loan is given at a low interest rate (which is put back into the fund to help others) and the payback can be either working at Daystar (such as a postgraduate student teaching undergrads) or making payments once they have secured a job.  The requirement is that we cannot use the funds until they are matched.  So far $42,000 has been given towards the match, so $84,000 has been given out as student loans.

NURSING EQUIPMENT

Thank you to the many supporters who gave generously toward the $125,000 needed to obtain and ship equipment for the new nursing skills lab - the equipment arrived in March! This equipment will provide great momentum for the future of the School of Nursing at Daystar University!

We were also blessed with the opportunity to obtain a second container of nursing equipment. It was shipped and is currently on a cargo ship in the Atlantic. This equipment was provided through a grant received by Matter, a local non-profit organization that specializes in medical equipment. The container and shipping cost were covered by friends of Daystar. This second container should arrive in the coast city of Mombasa in August and will be shipped via rail to Nairobi and trucked to Athi River Campus.

NEW COMMUNICATION STUDIOS

Thanks to a generous donation and a lot of perseverance from the University of Northwestern in St Paul, Minnesota, newly renovated studios with up to-date equipment for communications studies are now installed at Daystar University, giving students the best learning experience possible. Daystar’s radio station, Shine FM, now has the most modern radio equipment available to broadcast high-quality Christian programs and music to the surrounding area.

A Northwestern Media team, led by Jason Sharp, visited Daystar in January of 2020 with a fresh commitment to fill the newly-constructed studios with modern communications equipment. UNW purchased the equipment with a plan to deliver and install it in April of 2020. Then the worldwide Covid pandemic closed international travel!

After four canceled trips, a group from the University of Northwestern, led by Scott Jones, Assistant Vice President – Business Operations and Technology, and Mark Seignious, Communications Department, traveled with the Daystar U.S. team and arrived in June 2021. Going through customs with 27 bags of equipment was interesting! They thank the Lord for His favor in getting through.

Thank you to the University of Northwestern for their investment in Daystar students and the perseverance to make this a reality!

The photos on this page represent why we are so thankful for each of you. The progress you see is a testament not only to the able leadership of President Laban and his team, but also of a strong family of support from the U.S.

As we all know, the mission of Daystar is so very important - leaders of integrity are desperately needed at all levels of society. Thank you for your prayers and financial support of this mission!

We are so very thankful for you!

Blessings,

Alan Cooke
