Stories of Transformation. The Life Changing Opportunity of a Daystar Scholarship.

Meet Happiness and Joy: From Refugees, to Scholarship students, to Servant Leaders

Two sisters, Happiness and Joy, are both Daystar scholarship students and refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Happiness and Joy have six other siblings, two others who attend Daystar. Their parents serve in full-time ministry with their father as a faithful pastor. At an early age, they fled their homeland because of war and were living in Burundi for several years as refugees before they fled to Kenya because of political instability.

Happiness shared some of her experience at Daystar following her graduation in December: “My time at Daystar University was an adventure and an amazing time. I saw God’s love being portrayed in my studies, in my fellow students as well as teachers. I really enjoyed my classes as I could see myself helping more children and refugee girls who have been going through hard times and giving them the hope of living which is Jesus Christ. At Daystar, I learned a lot of important values, but the value that stood out most was Servant Leadership. We are alive for each other; that is to change someone else’s life and impact them in a positive way.” “May you keep being a blessing to others and changing lives as you have changed mine.”
