Could you forgive someone who killed your family and left you an orphan on the run? Further more, could you learn to love them

The Rwandan genocide is known throughout the world as one of the most horrific killings in history. You might have even seen the major motion picture, Hotel Rwanda, which garnered international fame for its depiction of the events that occurred during this mass genocide.

When you watch a movie like this, it is easy to detach yourself, or watch from a distance. However, when you come face-to-face with someone who lived through what was portrayed, it is difficult to ignore the reality.  When I met Sam, this movie became much more than story I could shut off with the click of a button - it became real. Your support saved Sam's life and enabled forgiveness in a situation of hate.

Sam just graduated from Daystar this November. However, he didn't just gain a degree, he accomplished something even more miraculous: he learned to love and forgive those who sought to kill him.

As a young child Sam watched his family be murdered in front of his eyes. He was then left with no other option but flee to the jungle in order to escape that same fate. This began his journey of survival as a refugee, which would eventually lead him to Daystar, where his life would be forever altered yet again.

Watch Sam's testimonial below to hear how he survived life on the run and grew into the person he is today:

Sam graduated from Daystar University last November. He is now employed and well on his way to making a name for himself in the Kenyan tech world.
