President Laban’s Covid-19 Update to Daystar Parents

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love."
1st Corinthians 13:13, NIV

The Kenyan government announced that all schools and universities including Daystar will be closed through January. The shadow of the pandemic is a daily reality in our lives and in the lives of so many parents of Daystar students.

Will you please pray for parents of Daystar students?  Homes throughout Africa have become the new "campus" of Daystar students who continue through the new "classroom" of the online platform.  Also please pray for Daystar faculty and staff to know how to shepherd these students from a distance.

Please listen to President Laban share his heart to parents in the video below.  Also, please share how we can be in prayer for you and your loved ones.

In Him,

Alan

During the Covid-19 lockdowns at Daystar, your support for Daystar scholarship students has never been more important. With all classes moved online, students have shifted to their homes where they and their families depend on your support not only to complete their studies but to survive through economic hardship.

Two scholarship students, Beryl and Daniel, shared about how they are feeling during the upheaval during the Corona virus pandemic.

Beryl wrote, “The world is currently going through a tough moment with the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite that, I am able to continue with my classes on the E-learning platform without any major challenges and I thank God that I am safe together with my sisters. My prayer is that all this will come to an end. I pray for protection from God for each and every one on this planet.”

“Finally, no words could possibly express how happy I was when I was informed that I had been chosen to be supported by you. Your generosity encourages me not only to continue to be hopeful through Daystar, but to also continue on my academic path as a future Community Practioner. I pray that the Lord will bless you and always protect you and your family. May He keep you in perfect health and give you long life.”

Daniel wrote, “I am safe and sound during this novel pandemic (COVID-19).These are hard and unprecedented times filled with anxiety and worries of what the future holds but being a Christian gives me a glimpse of God's will for His people. I am still in Nairobi taking my online classes as usual. So far it is good with the e-learning program. How I wish we all will come out of this situation in good health and happiness. I hope you are safe. God will grant us His protection through these times, for He is everlasting and omnipotent.”

“Since I received this scholarship, my life has never been the same because I diverted my attention from thinking about financial difficulties to studying. I used to wake up in the morning thinking about school fees and spend the day and night thinking about the same worries. This really affected my studies but you gave me a stepping stone. I thank God for you. Thank you so much for your help and may God continue to bless you as you support me in my studies. I am indebted to you and may God reward your generosity abundantly. Thanks once again for turning my life around. I was on the verge of losing hope if it were not for you. I am very grateful. Thanks so much and stay safe.”

ENDOWMENTS
Our scholarship endowments are the financial building blocks to help Daystar look to the future with confidence.  An endowment gift is the single most important way to make the university available to students for years to come.  As the endowments grow, Daystar can expand its ability to challenge and nourish lives.  When you help with a deferred gift, you take a very personal stake in the kind of education that builds Christian character as it creates an environment of academic excellence.

PLANNED GIVING
Through planned gifts you can support Daystar University while improving your financial security. In fact, just one planned gift can return an immediate tax deduction to you, plus lifetime income for you and a loved one, plus long-term financial support to Daystar.
