For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 ESV

Now that the hustle and bustle of the holiday season has subsided and our cold weather is starting to lose its grip on us, we begin to see signs of spring.

The changes in seasons that we experience in the Midwest reminds us how every new season brings something new!

I’m excited to share the new seasons of growth we are experiencing at Daystar University with you, in addition to some updates on our most recent trip to Kenya.

Since 2014 Daystar University’s nursing program has educated over 150 students on the most innovative healthcare practices in Africa.

Daystar graduates have not only secured internships and employment thanks to their education, but are able to demonstrate patient centered care grounded in the Christian education at Daystar.

We are proud to announce that our nursing building project has reached 75% completion, and is almost ready to accommodate our newest class of nursing students.

This new building provides the space and resources needed to continue growing our nursing

program, while also keeping up with the latest approaches in healthcare.

Pictured above: the roof to the building has been placed and now we are waiting on the plumbing and electrical, then tile and painting to be complete!

As student numbers continue to rise, the need for funding of both our loan and scholarship match programs continues to increase.

  • $500,000 was given to start an internal student loan program.  The loan is given at a low interest rate (which is put back into the fund to help others) and the payback can be either working at Daystar (such as a postgraduate student teaching undergrads) or making payments once they have secured a job.  The requirement is that we cannot use the funds until they are matched, so the goal is to reach a million dollars in the fund.  So far $113,250 has been given towards the match, so $226,500 is available for student loans!

  • This year the number of students who applied for scholarships has doubled, creating a need for increased funding to our scholarship match program of $50,000. To date this year, we have received $27,855 in donations to this fund.

All of this would not be possible without the help of our donors, and because of that we want to say thank you!

Tibayge Moses is a scholarship student who was able to graduate thanks to your generosity. He has a message for our donors:
