Prayer for a New Semester

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you,
so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times,
you may abound in every good work."
2nd Corinthians 9:8, ESV

Thank you so much for your prayers for my time away in northern Minnesota (Duluth) with my family - I really enjoyed the time away with my wife and children.  A vacation with six children and other family members is exciting and fun, though not necessarily “restful”. :o)  We did have a wonderful time making great memories together.

Like so many schools during the pandemic, the start of the Fall semester has been unusual.  President Laban has let me know that they have around 700 freshmen who are starting this semester with classes online (vs. 1,000 freshmen in a normal year).  Will you please pray for these incoming freshmen as they begin their journey as the next difference makers in Africa?

Thank you for making this difference possible!

Blessings,

Alan

James Chege shares about life during Covid.

Scholarship student, James Chega, shared about how he is feeling during the upheaval during the Covid-19 pandemic.

James wrote, “It has been a long journey working on this project. With the challenges brought about by Covid-19, we had to conduct research and correspondence through online means. This has also brought in new discipline as one has to finish work and submit it online on agreed days and timelines.

In the community, Covid-19 has brought new changes. For example, I have not been able to physically go to church. This is odd but we have to adhere to the guidelines provided. Most of the church services are presented online or on TV which allows us to still worship and seek God.

We are now getting used to wearing masks, sanitizing our hands more often than we used to before, and now we cannot even shake hands. I am, however, encouraged by the word of God which in Psalm 91 says, that “no harm shall fall on us”. This is the ultimate protection psalm.

I have been following keenly the developments around the world especially in the United States and how things have changed due to Covid-19. It saddens me to see so many valuable lives lost. I believe God will see you and your family through during this difficult time.

I would like to thank God that the semester went well without anything major happening to jeopardize my education. I thank God and you for this. I am done with my studies and awaiting graduation. Having finished my project and awaiting final grading, I am left with only needing to clear with the administration so that I can be listed for graduation. I really look forward to this event and I will be grateful to share with you my graduation photos. Finally, I would like to thank you sincerely for your assistance. I would not be here without you. In God’s time and with your assistance, I have managed to finish my studies. God bless you abundantly. May His grace live in you now and forever.”

ENDOWMENTS
Our scholarship endowments are the financial building blocks to help Daystar look to the future with confidence.  An endowment gift is the single most important way to make the university available to students for years to come.  As the endowments grow, Daystar can expand its ability to challenge and nourish lives.  When you help with a deferred gift, you take a very personal stake in the kind of education that builds Christian character as it creates an environment of academic excellence.

PLANNED GIVING
Through planned gifts you can support Daystar University while improving your financial security. In fact, just one planned gift can return an immediate tax deduction to you, plus lifetime income for you and a loved one, plus long-term financial support to Daystar.
