ā€œ I’m a student at Daystar University Nairobi Campus majoring in Community Development and a minor in Communication. I am born and raised in Mathare slum, a place I consider home having in mind that it is where I grew up with my four siblings and my mother. I currently have one parent (my mother), who was a banana vendor up to the point of illness.

My main reason for applying for scholarship was because I am unable to raise my fees especially now that the little money I get is used to cater for my sick mother who is suffering a terminal illness. The entire family heavily relies on me and this makes it completely impossible for me to even provide a quarter of my fees.

I want to see a better world where youth and families grow up with hope for a better tomorrow, a place where children would feel loved, cared for and protected. I started an organization in Mathare that feeds over 200 children with hot porridge every morning through the support of friends. I received Christ as my personal Savior while I was a child. I am involved in several ministries in the Mathare slums that mostly look into the interests of children and widows in the Community and churches around. I have also initiated a youth program that aims to bring redemption to our brothers (who are lost in drugs and robbery) as they track through the food program that feeds the kids and widows with a cup of porridge each day and later we get to pray with them.

I always remember that God created this world and everything in it. He always was, is, and always will be master of the universe. Praise to our Lord Jesus. I pray that God will help me complete my education at Daystar University to create a difference for His people. Growing up in a devastated home where my parents had to work very hard to make ends meet has made me realize the value of a college education. I will be the first in my family to attend college, and I hope to set a good example to my siblings.

I greatly appreciate you whole heartily for accepting to assist me in completing school. This shall enable me to accomplish so many things for the betterment of myself and the Community in Mathare. May the Lord bless you. I offer my sincerest thanks for your generous support. AMEN. THANK YOU LORD!ā€
